2019 Giant Pro Road e+1 GU e-bike. Large frame.
NOTE: The bike is NOT a mountain bike. It’s a road bike.
Purchased for R70k.
Selling for R25 000k.
Speed regulation occurs at over 42 kph.
Less than 1 000 km on the clock (currently rated at 100% lifespan by Giant).
Purchased for my Cairo to Cape Town e-bike ride that took place in Sept-Oct 2019. Never used the Large bike a single km during the trip through Africa. I rode a Medium the entire way.
The bike rides like a dream and is a total game changer for people who thought riding was no longer possible.
I’ve got TWO prolapsed discs (L2 and L3) and require surgery, but the e-bikes help me overcome ALL agony…and actually help resolve the back pain…even when I ride for over 8 hours a day.
I averaged just under 40 kph from Egypt to Botswana.
Range is up to 90 km on one charge (with limited pedal assist). Under my own “normal circumstances”, with significant pedal assist, I get over 70 km per charge.
Spare batteries are available.
The bike was recently serviced by Giant in Greenside, including a new control module and wiring harness (the original one was damaged when it was first assembled by Giant in Cape Town).
A few nicks and scratches from being on the back of my Landy (support vehicle) through Africa, but nothing severe.
